Defendant sodomized a fellow inmate while in the Fulton County Jail awaiting trial
Atlanta–Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr., announces the RAPE conviction, by a non-negotiated guilty plea, of 19-year-old KENYATTA COSBY.
On September 10, 2016, a 33-year-old female traveled to a home in Hapeville to visit a friend. When the female arrived, she realized her friend was not home. At that time, the woman was approached by Kenyatta Cosby who was 16-years-old. Cosby asked the woman for a ride to a nearby store, and she obliged.
When Cosby and the female arrived at the store he refused to exit the vehicle and forced her to drive to a residence along Forrest Hills Drive in Hapeville. When they arrived at the residence, Cosby forced the victim out of the vehicle and dragged her to the backyard of the home. Once in the backyard, Cosby proceeded to punch the victim in the face and the defendant bit her multiple times. The victim suffered visible tears, bruises, and bite marks to her face as a result of the defendant’s actions.
Cosby then removed the victim’s clothing, except for her bra, and forcibly placed his penis into her vagina against her will. Neighbors heard what sounded like a fight between a male and female emanating from the backyard, so they called 911. When Hapeville Police arrived, they found Cosby forcibly penetrating the victim, and the incident was captured on body cam video. The victim was distraught and was screaming for police to help her. Police removed Cosby from the victim, and she explained what happened. Cosby was immediately arrested.
After the State presented its case during trial, Cosby decided to enter a non-negotiated guilty plea to the charges before him, and he was sentenced by the Judge. Cosby also sodomized a fellow inmate in May 2019, while in the Fulton County Jail awaiting trial. The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing that incident for additional charges, but it was presented as evidence at trial prior to Cosby’s guilty plea.
COSBY entered a non-negotiated guilty plea and was convicted of RAPE, KIDNAPPING, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, AGGRAVATED BATTERY, and SEXUAL BATTERY.
COSBY was sentenced to
45 years in prison plus life on probation
Judge Shukura Ingram Millender, of the Superior Court of Fulton County, presided over the case. Assistant District Attorney Siri Patel led the prosecution of the case. She was assisted by Assistant District Attorney Christina Robinson, Investigator Paula Duprey, and Victim-Witness Advocate Morgan Green of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Investigator M. Abercrombie from the Hapeville Police Department was the lead investigator in this case.
