Father repeatedly sexually assaulted his daughter between May 1, 2016, and November 30, 2016

Atlanta–Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr., announces the RAPE, INCEST, AGG. CHILD MOLESTATION, and AGG. SODOMY conviction, by a non-negotiated guilty plea, of 39-year-old CEDRIC.

“Due to the fact that the defendant, in this case, is the biological father of the female victim, we are only referring to the defendant by his first name. It is imperative, however, that information about this case be distributed to our local, regional, and national media partners because of the heinousness of the crime. The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office applauds Fulton County Superior Court Judge Rachel Krause for sending a message to this defendant and any others who commit crimes of this nature within our jurisdiction. We will continue to work to see to it that defendants who target the most vulnerable citizens within our community are held accountable for their actions.”

Between May 1, 2016, and November 30, 2016, Cedric repeatedly performed oral sex upon and raped his 13-year-old biological daughter. The sexual abuse continued until the defendant impregnated the victim. The victim’s grandmother noticed that she was pregnant at her 14th birthday party. The victim’s grandmother reported the abuse to Union City Police and an investigation ensued. DNA evidence confirmed that Cedric was the biological father of his daughter’s unborn child, and the defendant was arrested. The victim eventually gave birth to the child.

Jail records unveiled Cedric’s intentions to intimidate his victim and to hinder any prosecution of this case by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Cedric instructed his daughter’s mother to take her daughter and the infant child and leave Georgia. The mother, her daughter, and the infant child relocated to South Carolina per Cedric’s instructions; however, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office collaborated with the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office in South Carolina to secure the victim and her mother for trial. During jury selection this week, Cedric, the defendant, decided to enter a non-negotiated plea to the indictment and he was sentenced by the judge.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office will continue to work with the victim and her family, in this case, to be sure that she receives the proper treatment and assistance as a result of the trauma she has endured.

CEDRIC entered a non-negotiated guilty plea and was convicted of RAPE, INCEST, AGGRAVATED CHILD MOLESTATION, AGGRAVATED SODOMY, and SEXUAL BATTERY.

CEDRIC was sentenced to
40 years in prison plus life on probation

Judge Rachel R. Krause, of the Superior Court of Fulton County, presided over the case. Assistant District Attorney Marshal Moore Hodge led the prosecution of the case. She was assisted by Assistant District Attorney Robert Springer, Investigator Kathryn Taber, and Victim-Witness Advocate Leenessa Landor of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Detective G. Nelson from the Union City Police Department was the lead investigator in this case.
