Atlanta—On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jane Barwick issued a $500,000 bond to former Atlanta Police Officer Garrett Rolfe who is charged with the murder of Rayshard Brooks. The bond issued to former Officer Rolfe is one of the largest in recent Fulton County history. Former Officer Rolfe will be required to pay 10% of the $500,000 bond to be released from jail.

Rolfe’s Bond Conditions:

  • Ankle monitor
  • 6pm-6am curfew
  • Turnover passport
  • No contact with witnesses or Atlanta Police
  • No weapons

“Despite evidence presented at the hearing by the State that showed that former Officer Rolfe engaged in several text message conversations with Atlanta Police Officers shortly after the incident, the Court did not require Rolfe to turn over the password to his cell phone. However, the Court did remind Rolfe and his counsel that they are not allowed to disturb or destroy evidence contained in the cellphone.”
