MAN CONVICTED IN SHOOTING DEATH OF GIRLFRIEND
Victim Shot in Head and Left For Dead Near Fulton Industrial Boulevard Hotel
November 8, 2017
Atlanta– Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announces a conviction by jury trial in the murder case against an Atlanta man. Jurors returned guilty verdicts Thursday against 24-year-old Larry Rosser on charges of Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and weapons offenses in connection with the shooting death of 21-year-old Alexis Vereen.
Ms. Vereen was gunned down and left for dead on June 25, 2012 at 3915 Old Gordon Road near Fulton Industrial Boulevard. The victim and a friend had gone to a nearby hotel to visit Defendant Rosser, with whom she had a child, for his birthday. According to witnesses, the defendant was extremely intoxicated, became violent and pulled a gun on the victim. Ms. Vereen left the location but Defendant Rosser followed her and eventually fired a shot striking the victim in the head. Rosser left the scene- abandoning the critically injured victim. A passerby who came upon the victim lying on the ground stopped to render aid and called 911. The victim was transported to the hospital but died two days later. Rosser turned himself in to police four days later after being positively identified in a photographic line-up. The investigation revealed that Rosser had a history of abusing Ms. Vereen and previously pled guilty to an incident during which he beat her following a jealous rage.
Following his conviction on Thursday, Rosser was sentenced to life plus five years in prison by visiting Senior Judge E. Tracy Moulton, Jr. who presided over the case.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Linda Dunikoski with assistance from ADA Simone Hylton and DA Investigator Terri Jackson. Detective D. Coleman of the Atlanta Police Department led the initial investigation.
